Runrig
Rock / Folk / Celtic

Runrig are a Scottish Celtic rock group formed in Skye, in 1973 under the name 'The Run Rig Dance Band'. Since its inception, the band's line-up has included songwriters Rory Macdonald and Calum Macdonald.

They are returning. Not that they have ever been away in any real sense, but after an 18 month sabbatical from the touring circuit (2 years in the case of England), the band is back on the road in 2012 with a new tour and a renewed sense of purpose. Runrig is particularly excited about playing some cities they have not played for a long time – over 20 years in the case of Guildford.
The break has given the band members an opportunity to pursue many other musical avenues and individual projects, as well as working on new material and planning for the next stage in the remarkable Runrig story. Crucially for the band, they will return to the stage refreshed and re-invigorated, with a re-vamped show and set, working up to, and focusing on year 2013, a hugely significant milestone for the band, when they will be celebrating 40 years in the music business. The journey to 2013 starts now.
“They say absence makes the heart grow fonder and, I know that I speak for all of us when I say, I’m really excited about getting back on stage with the band again. I think the break has been very positive for us all – it has given us a freshness, and an energy, of which the audience will, hopefully, be the main benefactors.”
